A 61-year-old Houston man was arrested for aggravated kidnapping at his home Thursday for the attempted child abduction in Van Vleck April 23, the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.
Dubo Ishag was arrested by DPS investigators at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday, April 25, and taken to Fort Bend County Jail on a warrant out of Matagorda County, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The arrest of the suspect driving came after an intensive investigation by Van Vleck ISD Police, Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Rangers and DPS investigators.
The attempted abduction occurred Tuesday morning, April 23, when an elementary student and her older sister, a junior high student, were walking to school and were approached by the suspect driving a white van who spoke in a Nigerian accent and stopped them on Avenue E between 5th Street and 4th Street.
Van Vleck ISD Police said he attempted to abduct the younger student and her older sister was able to free her.
